His history is quite long in the MCU alone, let alone 616, so I won't re-type it out! MCU information can be found on the fandom wiki hereHowever, feel free to ask questions about my take! I'll be linking a headcanon page here some time in the future :) Needless to say, I love incorporating his fertility god abilities into his skillset, so an affinity for nature, plants, and growing things. His symbol is the oak, and he's especially fond of springtime.My rp version is primarily MCU based, though I throw in 616 and mythology bits and pieces where I can, particularly r.e history before the movies. Personality

Once a vivacious, charismatic man with a violent streak and penchant for instant gratification – always leading to trouble – time and duty has left Nate jaded with the living. Years of isolation have reduced his capacity for kindness or manners: he's abrasive and short-tempered, finding amusement only in antagonising with the promise of a fight. He's always ready with a quip or comment, but one couldn't call him the smartest man.If you can tolerate his gruff attitude one might, after a while, tease back out some of his original sense of humour and passion for adventure. Further encouraged, he has a penchant for the dramatic, love of a good story, and might one day admit that his short temper goes hand-in-hand with competitive pride.There have been attempts from the man to adapt with changing times, but the results have been mixed – as evidenced in his wardrobe and speech mannerisms. He freely mixes long-dead colloquialisms with the new; repairs his old coat but prefers steel-toed boots and sunglasses. He's particularly fond of horse riding and music.

- Nathaniel might be resilient to means of death but pain is still pain - he can be harmed or restrained. (in some more modern verses he may be able to become temporarily intangible).
- Silver - even tiny quantities if pure - burns. Stabbing him with silver could potentially kill him again.
- Bright sunlight easily dazzles or makes him uncomfortable, especially in his grim form.
- He gets seasick very easily, has a general aversion to swimming and water.

Bio

(CW: Death; hanging mention).Born and raised in a small village in the South of England around the turn of the century, Nathaniel grew up a simple farmhand with a zest for life and decent work ethic - albeit one forcibly instilled by his father.He had never been particularly aspirational, though Nathaniel was good with his words, keen on learning to read, and likeable even at his young age.Around the age of 13, this landed him in the company of several young men looking to recruit more youngsters for their work. Increasingly poor and disillusioned with both home life and the crown, they had begun to form a loose band of highwaymen. Nathaniel at first only gave aid when he felt the need, but was eventually coerced into joining their escapades after the death of his father. The farm fell into disrepair and he does not know what became of his mother.With Nate's focused addition, the small band grew in efficiency and profits. Where once he had been ambivalent to money and material gains, Nate began to grow increasingly interested in gaining more and more wealth, and increasingly bitter with figures of authority.The profits they made over the years were of course greater when they worked in greater numbers, but as he grew older and increasingly violent the highwaymen began to fracture. The band dissolved and Nate departed, convinced that he would fare better operating alone.Without anyone to check him, Nate became notoriously vicious and his schemes more elaborate. Capitalising upon the romantic reputation highwaymen had begun to gain with the general population, he balanced charming manipulation with acts of extreme violence. This earned something of a mixed reputation - and notoriety which would eventually lead to his arrest.Nathaniel was sentenced to be hung by the neck until dead and his body was left in a gibbet at a crossroads. If you ask him where it was he was executed, he couldn't tell you. That week is a hazy blur.He also doesn't speak of what he saw in death. Suffice to say it was enough that, when faced with the option to prolong his fate and stand a chance of redemption to a better afterlife, he seized the chance. In order to atone, he was to do as bid.With no physical body left, his soul was tied to that of a churchyard dog and Nathaniel became the grim for which he is now known. Duties vary between the protection and defense of sites such as graveyards; escorting errant souls to their afterlife; and hunting down those his ‘masters’ have deemed wicked – anything from dangerous, wild supernatural beings to graverobbers and murderers.Protection and justice are the name of the game, albeit violently delivered and for reasons he should not question. It's a laughable fate - he is to hunt down the very men he once was and destroy being similar to what he has become.Hundreds of years since, and Nathaniel has patiently endured every passing fad, new invention and fresh horror the times have wrought. As the world changes, so his duties have shifted and the pattern become slower. He has grown restless and bored, unable to abandon duty at the risk of his soul, but finding less and less to do as modern technology continues to encroach on his life.
